Nagorno-Karabakh calls on international community to recognize its independence
YEREVAN, October 3. /ARKA/ Artsakh (Nagorno-Karabakh) Foreign Ministry called on the international community to recognize its independence in order to ensure the rights of its citizens to life and peaceful development.

"Under the current conditions, the international recognition of Artsakh is the only effective mechanism for restoring peace and security in the region," the ministry said in a statement.

The Artsakh Foreign Ministry said that since September 27, 2020, the armed forces of Azerbaijan, with the support of Turkey and terrorist organizations from the Middle East, have unleashed an aggressive war against the Republic of Artsakh.

It said the large-scale armed attack by Azerbaijan on the Republic of Artsakh is accompanied by serious violations of the norms of international humanitarian law, as well as the laws and customs applied during armed conflicts.

"In particular, the Azerbaijani-Turkish armed formations deliberately fire at cities, villages and civilian objects of Artsakh with the aim of terrorizing and destroying the civilian population. As a result of their criminal actions, there are numerous casualties among civilians," the statement said.

The Foreign Ministry welcomed the efforts of the heads of the co-chairing states of the OSCE Minsk Group and the international community as a whole, aimed at an immediate end to the armed aggression of Azerbaijan and de-escalation of tension.

"At the same time, we note that all the demands and calls of the international community are cynically rejected by the triple alliance of Turkey, Azerbaijan and terrorist organizations," the ministry said.

According to official Armenian sources, some 3000 Azerbaijani soldiers have been killed in the fighting against Nagorno-Karabakh since September 27 morning when Azerbaijan launched a large-scale offensive against Nagorno-Karabakh and another 3,400 have been wounded.

The Armenian forces of Nagorno-Karabakh have destroyed about 250  various armored vehicles, multiple launch rocket systems Smerch, Uragan, and TOS , more than 110 UAVs, 16 helicopters, 11 aircraft.

According to the defense ministries of Armenia and Artsakh, during the repulse of the aggression of the Azerbaijani Armed Forces, backed by Turkish air forces and mercenaries, more than 150 Armenian servicemen have been killed and several hundred people have been wounded.  Azerbaijani rocket attacks against civilian targets in Nagorno-Karabakh have killed 12 civilians and wounded another 64. -0-
