Names of new provincial governors known, daily says

An Armenian daily ‘Hraparak” (Square) claims it has found out who are supposed to become new provincial governors. Earlier, Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan said that all governors appointed by the Republican Party will be replaced.

YEREVAN, May 29. /ARKA/. An Armenian daily ‘Hraparak” (Square) claims it has found out who are supposed to become new provincial governors. Earlier, Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan said that all governors appointed by the Republican Party will be replaced.
According to the daily, Nikol Pashinyan and his ally, Gagik Tsarukyan, the leader of the Prosperous Armenia party, have failed to come to accord on who is to become governor of the southern Syunik province.
The daily claims that nonetheless, Tsarukyan’s party, which has the second largest faction in the National Assembly, will receive three governor's posts. The Armenian Revolutionary Federation (Dashnaktsutyun) will get one or two gubernatorial posts, and the rest will be given to Pashinyan’s Civil Contract party.
The daily claims also that Romanos Petrosyan will be appointed as governor of central Kotayk province, Karen Sarukhanyan will be appointed as governor of Shirak province, Garnik Sargsyan will be governor of Ararat province.
The daily says Tsarukyan bloc will appoint as governors those MPs who won the largest number of votes in the 2017 parliamentary elections in their respective regions. It also says that Arayik Aghababayan is the likely candidate for the post of governor of Armavir province and Grant Madatyan as governor of Gegharkunik province. -0-
