YEREVAN, October 21. /ARKA/. At its session on Tuesday, the National Assembly of Armenia rejected a draft statement "On the National Crisis and the Failure of Public Administration," initiated by the opposition faction "I Have the Honor."

The statement expressing no confidence in Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan, submitted by the "I Have the Honor" faction, notes that the government has failed to fulfill its obligations, allowed a systemic crisis in all spheres of government, and has become a source of new challenges for the country. Among the reasons cited are the loss of Artsakh, the failure of the national security strategy, rising corruption, the economic downturn, the humanitarian crisis, and the deterioration of relations with allies. The faction proposes forming a transitional government of national unity to stabilize the situation, restore democracy, and hold free elections.

At the National Assembly meeting on Tuesday, the head of the "I Have the Honor" faction, Hayk Mamijanyan, presented the draft, stating that hearings had been held regarding the statement, which had ensured the near-complete consolidation of the public opposition field among both parliamentary and extra-parliamentary forces.

"It is noteworthy that from the initiation of this process until the hearings, a series of dangerous and, in some cases, irreversible events for our country occurred, including anti-democratic and new, strong repressive processes, and even court decisions, which could also have been included in this statement," Mamijanyan noted.

According to him, Nikol Pashinyan must be removed from power as soon as possible, and impeachment is the only tool for this.

"And it is precisely with this logic in mind that we initiated the impeachment process. The main force behind impeachment and the key to its success is broad public unity through street struggle," Mamijanyan said.

In turn, Artsvik Minasyan, secretary of the opposition Armenia faction, stated that the Armenia faction fully supports the draft statement, which notes all the assertions and justifications for "sending this government home."

For his part, the head of the ruling Civil Contract faction, Hayk Konjoryan, stated that the faction would oppose this "dead" and "lifeless" draft.

Twenty-four deputies voted in favor of the draft statement, 48 voted against, and two—Hovik Agazaryan and Hakob Aslanyan—abstained.
