YEREVAN, September 20. /ARKA/. Karen Karapetyan, the newly appointed Armenian premier, has his hands tied in changing the government, Zhoghovurd (People) reports.
According to the newspaper, it became known after Karen Karapetyan’s appointment that he had been promised full freedom in appointing all ministers but foreign and defense ministers. Later, it became known that the ministers from the Armenian Revolutionary Federation/Dashnaktsutiun are untouchable as well.
In addition, in recent days Samvel Karapetyan, a large Russian entrepreneur of Armenian descent, vowed over Gagik Beglaryan, transport and communications minister.
Besides, Hovik Abrahamyan, the new premier’s predecessor, ordered before his resignation to keep Arpine Hovhannisyan, justice minister, and David Harutyunyan, head of the government’s administration, in office until the 2017 parliamentary elections.
It fact, Karapetyan will have little to change in the government – he will only enjoy freedom in choosing his advisers and assistants. --0----
