New circumstances have emerged concerning a criminal case that involved the wiretapping of a telephone conversation between the former head of the National Security Council Artur Vanetsyan and the head of the Special Investigation Service Sasun Khachatryan, the head of the Investigative Committee of Armenian Hayk Grigoryan told reporters on Monday.

YEREVAN, October 21. /ARKA/.
On September 11, 2018, the audio of the conversations between Artur Vanetsyan and Sasun Khachatryan was leaked to the media and published by several news websites. Both men confirmed its authenticity. In the conversation Vanetsyan and Khachatryan spoke about the prosecution of ex-president Robert Kocharyan and other former officials in connection with 2008 deadly post-election events.
Hayk Grigoryan refused today to elaborate 'because of the interests of the preliminary investigation', saying only it proceeds in the usual manner.
'Yes, a number of new circumstances have been revealed, but, based on the interests of the investigation, I do not consider it correct to disclose them," he said.
Regarding Vanetsyan's earlier made claims that the wiretapping was commissioned by a “well-known” individual from Armenia and that it remained only to prove that fact, Grigoryan said his agency has never made such statements.
Earlier it was reported that the NSS of Armenia, together with local experts, began developing a program that would protect against any type of wiretapping. -0-
