Newspaper says Armenia’s plan to manufacture advanced Russian assault rifles may face an obstacle
YEREVAN, August 28. /ARKA/. An Armenian daily ‘Zhamanak” (Time) says Armenian Defense Ministry’s  plan to gradually replace AK-74s assault rifles with the more advanced AK-12 and AK-15 versions may face an obstacle.

It recalls that the Kalashnikov Concern and Royalsys Engineering Ltd signed recently an agreement on launching production of new models of Kalashnikov AK-12 and AK-15 assault rifles in Armenia. The signing ceremony was attended by Armenian Defense Minister Davit Tonoyan.

"Zhamanak» says it has found out that the Kalashnikov Concern has been under US and EU sanctions since 2014.

The daily says this fact potentially may create problems in the Armenian-American relations, but it is even more interesting that the head of Royalsys Engineering Ltd David Galstyan has been blacklisted by the United Nations and the United States for illegal trade in arms. -0-
