No news in peace treaty talks with Azerbaijan - PM

YEREVAN, January 31. /ARKA/. Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan stated at a press conference that there are no updates regarding the peace treaty with Azerbaijan, and two of the seventeen points of the agreement remain unresolved.
"One of them concerns the non-deployment of third-country representatives along the borders. We propose that this point apply to delimited areas. There is also the issue of withdrawing legal claims from international bodies, which, under certain circumstances, may be acceptable to us," he said.
Pashinyan emphasized that it is crucial to establish not just a waiver of disputes in international bodies but a complete renunciation of such litigation.
"Otherwise, a situation may arise where we withdraw some claims, Azerbaijan withdraws its claims as well, we agree not to go to international bodies, but at a later stage, Azerbaijan raises these issues again, bringing them to the negotiating table in a bilateral format. This could lead to escalations around these issues. In this case, we would have already closed off our avenues for managing the risks of these escalations through international platforms," he explained.
