YEREVAN, July 31. /ARKA/. No information has come within two weeks about Karen Ghazaryan, 34, a resident of Armenia’s border village who was captured by the Azerbaijani side on July 15, Tigran Balayan, spokesman of the Armenian foreign ministry, said Tuesday at a briefing.
After that, Azerbaijan reported that its border guards have foiled a raid attempt undertaken by the Armenian side.
The Armenian defense ministry stated that Ghazaryan has never been in military service in the Armenian army.
“Azerbaijan doesn’t allow members of the International Committee of the Red Cross to visit the captive in a clear breach of the Geneva Convention on Protection of Civilians’ Rights in Time of War,” Balayan said.
He said that the Armenian ombudsman has issued a statement as well.
“The matter remains in the center of our attention, we keep working,” he said. -0---
