Ohanyan-Raffi-Oskanian vows to increase contract servicemen’s salaries and promises every benefit

Seyran Ohanyan, who has been defense minister for eight years and was dismissed just recently, declared Saturday at the session of the electoral bloc he has joined upon his dismissal that this Ohanyan-Raffi-Oskanian bloc would increase the number of contact soldiers and their average salary size.

YEREVAN, February 27. /ARKA/. Seyran Ohanyan, who has been defense minister for eight years and was dismissed just recently, declared Saturday at the session of the electoral bloc he has joined upon his dismissal that this Ohanyan-Raffi-Oskanian bloc would increase the number of contact soldiers and their average salary size. 

The dismissed defense minister also vowed to enhance attractiveness of military service if he comes to power again. In his speech, he promised high salaries, good living conditions and decent retirement benefits for servicemen.

He said the bloc will increase contract soldiers’ median salary to AMD 240,000 and officers to AMD 480. 

In his words, AMD 50 billion will be taken from the government budget for this purpose. 

The former defense minister said that he is concerned over the fact that 18-year-old boys stand on the frontline. He declared that this is very important for the nation in terms of demography. 

In his opinion, the bloc will be able to improve living conditions of retired servicemen.  

He also promised legislative changes, new jobs and every benefit.   

Elinar Vardanyan, a member of the bloc who is now the chairman of the National Assembly’s human rights committee, on her side, said that the bloc would increase the maternity capital for the fourth child to AMD 3 million and other benefits. 

The other two leaders of the bloc are former foreign ministers – Vardan Oskanian, who was in office under Robert Kocharyan’s rule, and Raffi Hovhannisian, who held foreign-ministerial seat under the first president Levon Ter-Petrosyan. 

The polling day in the parliamentary elections is April 2. --0---
