YEREVAN, April 15. /ARKA/. Prosperous Armenia Party (PAP) is not planning to participate in the new government and in political consultations on the matter, secretary of PAP’s parliament faction Naira Zohrabyan said.
On Sunday the ruling Republican Party of Armenia (RPA) nominated speaker Hovik Abrahamyan for the premier’s post, to replace Tigran Sargsyan who resigned on April 3. Later in the day, the president Serzh Sargsyan appointed Abrahamyan as premier. On the same day, vice-speaker of Armenia’s parliament Eduard Sharmazanov said the Republican Party of Armenia does not rule out involvement of other political forces, Prosperous Armenia and Dashnaktsutiun in particular, in the new government. Political consultations are under way, Sharmazanov said.
“I don’t know what he (Sharmazanov) has under way and with who. There are no such consultations with the PAP, and there could be not”, Zohrabyan said in her interview to Novosti-Armenia.
She also said that a clear message was communicated to mass media after PAP leader Gagik Tsarukyan’s meeting saying involvement in the coalition was not on the party’s agenda and the PAP was against constitutional reforms and the funded pension scheme.
The tycoon-led Prosperous Armenia party had been in the ruling coalition in 2007-2012.
The previous coalition government formed after the parliamentary elections of 2012 composed of the RPA and Orinats Yerkir party led by the secretary of the National Security Council Arthur Baghdasaryan. –0--
