YEREVAN, June 26./ARKA/. To maintain the parity principle in the Caucasus is taken into account when the decision to sell arms to Azerbaijan is made, CSTO Secretary General Nikolai Bordyuzha said Wednesday at the doorstep to CSTO Political and Security Orients forum in Yerevan.
“The Russian Federation is one of the world’s largest armament producers and delivers. Russia sells and delivers arms to dozens of countries, even those which are not CSTO members. This is business, this is a market, this is an economy of the Russian Federation,” Novosti-Armenia quoted his as saying.
When selling arms to CSTO non-members, the parity maintenance in the Caucasus is primarily taken into account.
“And this important principle was taken into account when selling arms to your neighbor,” Bordyuzha noted.
On 18 June, the media outlets reported that Russia sold a batch of armament and military technology to Azerbaijan. It raised a wave of discontent in Armenia.—0-
