Parliamentary delegations of Armenia and Azerbaijan discussed Washington Summit and confidence-building

The meeting of the Armenian and Azerbaijani parliamentary delegations took place on November 18 in Istanbul on the sidelines of the 23rd Autumn Session of the OSCE Parliamentary Assembly, based on the agreement reached by the speakers of the two countries' parliaments in Geneva on October 21.

YEREVAN, November 18. /ARKA/. The meeting of the Armenian and Azerbaijani parliamentary delegations took place on November 18 in Istanbul on the sidelines of the 23rd Autumn Session of the OSCE Parliamentary Assembly, based on the agreement reached by the speakers of the two countries' parliaments in Geneva on October 21.

According to the website of the Armenian National Assembly, during the meeting in Istanbul, the delegation members emphasized the positive role of the Washington Summit and exchanged views on the agreements reached and further steps aimed at strengthening peace between Armenia and Azerbaijan, as well as the importance of parliamentary support for this process in both countries.

The role of parliaments in implementing confidence-building measures between the two countries was also discussed. Both sides emphasized the importance of constructive dialogue between parliamentarians in international organizations.

The seven-point declaration signed following the trilateral meeting between Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan, U.S. President Donald Trump, and Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev on August 8 in Washington includes the initialing of the “Agreement on Peace and Interstate Relations between Armenia and Azerbaijan”, the joint application to the OSCE on the dissolution of the OSCE Minsk Group mechanisms, the unblocking of regional communications within the framework of the principles of territorial integrity, sovereignty, and jurisdiction of countries and on the basis of reciprocity, as well as the “Trump Route for International Peace and Prosperity” project.-0--
