YEREVAN, July 10. /ARKA/. Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan and Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev discussed various aspects of the agenda for normalization of interstate relations between the two countries at a meeting held in Abu Dhabi on July 10, the press service of the Armenian Foreign Ministry reported.

“It was confirmed that bilateral talks are the most effective format for discussing all issues related to the normalization process, and on this basis it was decided to continue such a result-oriented dialogue,” the statement said.

The Foreign Ministry said that the leaders, noting the progress in the border delimitation process, instructed the relevant state commissions to continue practical work in this direction.

“The parties also agreed to continue bilateral talks and confidence-building measures between the two countries,” the statement said.

It is also noted that Pashinyan and Aliyev expressed gratitude to the President of the UAE Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan for the warm hospitality and organization of their bilateral meeting.

On March 13, the Republic of Armenia and the Republic of Azerbaijan separately announced the successful conclusion of negotiations on a peace agreement.

On the same day this was announced, Armenia issued an official statement calling for the start of consultations to determine the place and time of signing the agreement.

However, Azerbaijan unexpectedly put forward two preconditions for signing the agreement. One of the conditions requires Armenia to amend the Constitution, claiming that it contains “territorial claims against Azerbaijan,' which Armenia considers unfounded.

Azerbaijan's other demand concerns the dissolution of the OSCE Minsk Group. Armenia responded by saying it was ready to jointly address the OSCE on this issue either after or simultaneously with the signing of the agreement.

More than 60 states and organizations welcomed the progress and called for the signing of the peace agreement. -0-
