Pashinyan names key priorities of Armenia's chairmanship of EAEU
YEREVAN, December 26. /ARКА/. Speaking online at a meeting of the Supreme Economic Council of the EAEU, Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan summarized the country’s chairmanship of the Union's bodies and outlined key priorities.
"The main priorities of the chairmanship, as is known, included key areas of economic cooperation, the creation of common markets in the energy sector, the elimination of barriers in the internal EAEU market, the development of transport and logistics infrastructure, and the strengthening of international ties," he said.
Pashinyan also mentioned that priorities included, among other things, the development of cooperation potential and digital technologies, as well as the consolidation of IT communities and the introduction of innovative solutions in the agro-industrial complex.
However, the prime minister did not provide details or results of activities in these areas.
Since January 1, 2024, Armenia has chaired the EAEU bodies—the Supreme Eurasian Economic Council, the Eurasian Intergovernmental Council, and the Council of the Eurasian Economic Commission. The members of the EAEU are Armenia, Russia, Belarus, Kazakhstan, and Kyrgyzstan. Cuba, Moldova, and Uzbekistan have observer status.
