YEREVAN, June 7. /ARKA/. Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan, answering journalists' questions after voting in the parliamentary elections, spoke about Armenian-Russian relations, European integration, and the TRIPP project.
No Tension with Russia
"I don't see any tension in relations with Russia; this is artificial tension. Relations with Russia have institutional depth and are based on mutual respect," Pashinyan noted.
According to him, several forces operating in Armenia are trying to create tension in relations between Armenia and Russia.
Answering a question about sanctions imposed by Russia, Pashinyan emphasized that such working issues arise constantly; "they're just getting more media coverage now."
Continuing the Course Toward European Integration
Pashinyan stated that the EU is Armenia's main partner, and the country will continue reforms in line with European standards. "Armenia's future will be based on a strategy of strengthening independence, statehood, democracy, and the rule of law. We will continue democratic reforms with the support of our European partners," he said, adding that the balance between the EU and Russia is a matter of foreign policy.
On the TRIPP project and foreign policy
Pashinyan believes that the TRIPP (Trump Route for International Peace and Prosperity) project is a turning point.
"This project will benefit all countries in our region, as we will have open routes not only to the east and west, but also to the south and north. This will be beneficial for Armenia, Georgia, Azerbaijan, Turkey, and Iran," Pashinyan noted.
He also announced that after the parliamentary elections, he intends to visit not only Moscow, but also Washington, Brussels, Paris, and Tbilisi.
"I hope that I will have the opportunity to participate in the European Political Community summit in Baku. We are preparing to fully develop our international relations," Pashinyan said.
