YEREVAN, August 21. /ARКА/. On Thursday, Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan commenced a government meeting by extending congratulations "on the establishment of peace between Armenia and Azerbaijan, which was achieved through the signing of the declaration in Washington on August 8."

He stated that prior to his departure for Washington, several discussions took place, and the text was thoroughly analyzed during an expanded meeting of the Security Council.

"We reached the conclusion that this step must be taken," Pashinyan remarked, emphasizing that this is not merely a conclusion, but rather the initiation of work.

"I firmly believe that with this step, we have embarked on a new development agenda, a new dimension of progress, and it is essential that the content and energy of our efforts, as well as their effectiveness, be significantly enhanced," the Armenian Prime Minister stated.

He further noted, "A substantial amount of constructive, peaceful, and creative work lies ahead, and we must remain as focused as possible on this endeavor."

On August 8 President Donald Trump signed a deal with the leaders of Armenia and Azerbaijan to end decades of fighting, a diplomatic victory that also helps Trump in his push to present himself as a peacemaker on the world stage.

The seven-point declaration, which was signed after the trilateral meeting involving Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan, U.S. President Donald Trump, and Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev on August 8 in Washington, encompasses the initialing of the 'Agreement on Peace and Interstate Relations between Armenia and Azerbaijan', a joint request to the OSCE for the dissolution of the Minsk Group mechanisms, and the unblocking of regional communications based on the principles of territorial integrity, sovereignty, and jurisdiction of the nations, as well as reciprocity.-0-
