Pashinyan says Armenia has no reason to attack Azerbaijan

YEREVAN, 4 December. /ARKA/. Armenia does not have any reason to attack Azerbaijan, Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan said today.

‘At the political level, we have taken a legal step by mutually recognising each other's territorial integrity on the basis of the Alma-Ata Declaration, as well as ratified in Parliament the Regulation on the joint activities of the Armenian and Azerbaijani commissions on border delimitation,’ Pashinyan said din Parliament.

He said the mutual border delimitation process is planned to start soon on the next section of the border.

‘In this regard, I would like to stress that Armenia excludes any action that would be aimed at destabilising the situation. Resolving the issue of Armenia's territories occupied by Azerbaijan through military means is not and will not be on the agenda of the Armenian authorities,’ Pashinyan said.

Commenting on publications in Azerbaijani media allegedly about Armenia's intention to attack Azerbaijan for domestic political reasons, Pashinyan said that ‘on the contrary ... it is to my personal advantage that the situation in the region is stable.’

‘And this is an obvious fact, but these publications show that there are forces interested in destabilising the situation in the region. We must not give in to provocations and tirelessly express our position,’ Pashinyan said.

According to him, Armenia is committed to the peace agenda and has no military objectives towards any neighbours.

‘We have acknowledged and recognise the territorial integrity and sovereignty of all our neighbours and I hope that we will intensify the work on the draft peace treaty because 90% of the work is done. What remains is to make the last efforts and sign the peace treaty. We have also proposed real solutions to unblock regional communications. There is no basis for escalation in the relations between Armenia and Azerbaijan,’ Pashinyan noted.-0-
