Pashinyan says there is constructive mood in Armenian-Azerbaijani border delimitation process

YEREVAN, 19 December. /APKA/. Armenia and Azerbaijan have ratified regulations for their border delimitation commissions , which means that the delimitation process should continue, Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan said.

‘I think the delimitation commissions will meet soon to discuss in which part of the border we are ready to continue the delimitation. We are set for concrete, constructive work,’ he said in an interview with the Armenpress news agency.

Earlier, in late October, Nikol Pashinyan called the process of delimitation and demarcation in a border section in Tavush region near Kirants village bordering Azerbaijan a success.

On August 30 of this year, Yerevan and Baku signed a regulation (set of rules) regarding the joint work of the Armenian and Azerbaijani commissions on the delimitation and demarcation of the state border. After completing internal procedures, on October 24, the President of Armenia signed a law ratifying the regulations.

On the same day, the President of Azerbaijan signed a similar law.The regulations address procedural matters between the two countries following the signing of the state border agreement. These include organizing delimitation work, adopting relevant documents, preparing a protocol-description of the state border crossing, creating a delimitation map of the appropriate scale, and organizing the work of expert groups. The regulations and the documents adopted based on them will strengthen the legal framework for ensuring the smooth progress of the delimitation process.
