Pashinyan: Armenia's international borders remain inviolable
YEREVAN, December 14. /ARKA/. At all stages of the implementation of the November 9 statement, the internationally recognized borders of Armenia were and remain inviolable, Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan said Monday in his address to the nation.

"The principle of the inviolability of Armenia's borders cannot be questioned in any way. But these unresolved issues must be resolved through calm work," Pashinyan said.

He noted that the statement of November 9 did not mention the Zangelan and Kubatlu regions, since at the time of the signing of the document, over 90% of these territories, unfortunately, were under the control of Azerbaijan.

"During the negotiations, there was an understanding that a clarification of the border line should take place on this territory, which should be carried out within the next week. There are sensitive issues to us, and intensive negotiations are underway around their solution," he said.

According to the prime minister, many are trying to use the processes taking place today, which are sometimes painful, for narrow political purposes.

"Colossal streams of disinformation are involved, quite a significant part of them are controlled from abroad, and we cannot exclude their connection with foreign special services," he said.

Pashinyan gave an example saying that from the morning news feed, one might get the impression that fighting was going on all night in Syunik region, but the truth is that the night in Syunik, as well as all nights after November 9, passed militarily calmly.

After the leaders of Armenia, Russia and Azerbaijan signed a statement on the cessation of all hostilities in Artsakh on November 9, more than 190 settlements of Nagorno Karabakh and adjacent seven regions came under the control of Azerbaijan. As a result, the borders of the Syunik region in the south of Armenia (including the administrative center of Kapan) turned out to be in close proximity to the new borders of Azerbaijan (from the Soviet epoch).

In recent weeks, the media, referring to residents of the Syunik region, have reported on the penetration of aggressive Azerbaijanis into the Armenian territory, including people in military uniform.

About Artsakh War

From September 27 to November 9, the Azerbaijani Armed Forces, with the participation of Turkey and foreign mercenaries and terrorists recruited by it, carried out aggression against Artsakh at the frontline and in the rear using rocket and artillery weapons, heavy armored vehicles, military aircraft and prohibited types of weapons (cluster bombs, phosphorus weapons). The strikes were delivered also at civil and military targets on the territory of Armenia.

On November 9, the leaders of the Russia, Azerbaijan and Armenia signed a statement on the cessation of all hostilities in Artsakh. According to the document, the parties stop at their positions. The city of Shushi, Agdam, Kelbajar and Lachin regions pass over to Azerbaijan, with the exception of a 5-kilometer corridor connecting Karabakh with Armenia. A Russian peacekeeping contingent will be deployed along the contact line in Karabakh and along the Lachin corridor. Internally displaced persons and refugees are returning to Karabakh and adjacent regions, prisoners of war, hostages and other detained persons and bodies of the dead are exchanged. -0-
