STEPANAKERT, May 9. /ARKA/. The new government will be formed after discussion with all the parliamentary factions, Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan told journalists on Wednesday.
«We will start discussing the matter very soon,» he said. «Of course, the Civil Contract party I lead had its own program, but the government will be formed only by consensus.»
Pashinyan stressed that the new government will become a government of national consent.
In his words, in the next few days it will be decided who will run law enforcement agencies.
Yesterday, Vigen Sargsyan, acting defense minister, resigned.
On April 23, Serzh Sargsyan, who was appointed by the Armenian parliament as prime minister amid widespread disaffection for him, resigned under the pressure of mass protests against his premiership. On the same day, Armen Sarkissian, Armenian president accepted the government’s resignation.
On May 8, the National Assembly elected Nikol Pashinyan as prime minister by a majority of votes - 59 MPs voted for him and 42 voted against him. --0---
