Pashinyan: EEU and its economic principles should not correlate with political ambitions

YEREVAN, December 26. /ARKA/. The Eurasian Economic Union (EEU) and its economic principles should not correlate with political ambitions, Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan said on Monday in Russian St. Petersburg when speaking at a meeting of EEU leaders.
Pashinyan said, "It is symbolic that the presidency of Armenia coincides with the 10th anniversary of the signing of the Treaty on the EEU, which is based on the fundamental provision that the EEU is an economic union that should not have a political and, even more so, a geopolitical agenda.
We continue to perceive it as such and in this context develop cooperation within the framework of our economic cooperation, striving to prevent all attempts to politicize Eurasian integration. The EEU and its economic principles should not be linked to political ambitions.
The fundamental freedoms of trade and integration cannot and should not be restricted for political reasons, this will definitely lead to the corrosion of the fundamental principles of the Union.
In this context, the Armenian side attaches importance to the signing of the declaration on the further development of economic processes until 2030 and 2045, which is based on the conceptual and priority directions of medium-term and long-term development of EEU.’
The chairmanship of the EEU will pass to Armenia from January 1, 2024.' -0-
