Pashinyan’s party wins mayoral elections in three towns

Armenia’s Central Election Commission (CEC) has announced today the preliminary results of October 21 elections to local governments in 49 urban and rural communities in Aragatsotn, Ararat, Armavir, Gegharkunik, Lori, Kotayk, Shirak, Syunik and Tavush regions, including mayoral elections in four towns - Hrazdan, Armavir, Etchmiadzin and Kapan.
YEREVAN, October 22. /ARKA/. Armenia’s Central Election Commission (CEC) has announced today the preliminary results of October 21 elections to local governments in 49 urban and rural communities in Aragatsotn, Ararat, Armavir, Gegharkunik, Lori, Kotayk, Shirak, Syunik and Tavush regions, including mayoral elections in four towns - Hrazdan, Armavir, Etchmiadzin and Kapan.
According to preliminary results, the elections in Armavir and Etchmiadzin were won by the candidates nominated by the Civil Contract party of acting Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan. The election in Hrazdan was also won by a member of the same party, but whose nomination was not backed officially by the party. In Kapan the election was won by a non-partisan candidate.
Sevak Mikaelyan, the son of a lawmaker from the Civil Contract party Sasun Mikaelyan, became mayor of Hrazdan receiving the backing of 10,681 people. His rival Levon Stepanyan won 4,819 votes.
In Armavir, according to preliminary results, the winner is David Khudatyan, who gained 6,693 votes. His rival Ohan Harutyunyan received 1,626 votes.
In Etchmiadzin, the election was won by Diana Gasparyan from the Civil Contract party, who was backed by 8,076 voters. Her closest competitor Suren Muradyan scored 3,699 votes.
In Kapan, non-party Gevorg Parsyan won, receiving 10,507 votes. The candidate from the Civil Contract party Narek Babayan won 8,499 votes. -0-
