Pashinyan says Azerbaijan continues its genocidal policy against Nagorno-Karabakh defying Russian peacekeepers

YEREVAN, August 31. /ARKA/. Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan has accused today Azerbaijan of continuing its genocidal policy in Nagorno-Karabakh by starving its ethnic Armenian population to death, doing it in the presence of the Russian peacekeeping contingent.

Speaking at a government meeting Pashinyan noted that the day before, 10 trucks with humanitarian aid, donated by France were also banned from entering Nagorno-Karabakh like a convoy of another 19 trucks with aid sent by the government of Armenia.

"The main goal of this policy is to make Nagorno-Karabakh Armenian population to leave,’ Pashinyan said adding that one of the scenarios of this terrible policy is to allow Armenians of Nagorno-Karabakh to travel to Armenia and ban their return.

The Prime Minister noted that this policy of genocide and deprivation of homeland is taking place in the 21st century before the eyes of the international community. At the same time, Pashinyan said the way out of the situation is a dialogue between Karabakh and Azerbaijan within the framework of an international mechanism.

"Otherwise, Baku will disrupt such a dialog opportunities by all means," the prime minister said.

The convoy of trucks with French aid was escorted to Kornidzor, a village near the entrance to Lachin corridor, the only road connecting Nagorno-Karabakh with the outside world, by Paris Mayor Anne Hidalgo and other French local government officials, who have arrived in Armenia to show their solidarity with the people of Nagorno-Karabakh. The aid donated by several French regions consists of food and other essential items.

Speaking at a press conference in Kornidzor Anne Hidalgo said what was happening in Nagorno-Karabakh was something that resembled genocide.

In another related development, hundreds of Nagorno-Karabakh residents blocked a road leading to the Azerbaijani town of Aghdam to prevent the delivery of Azerbaijan humanitarian aid. According to Azerbaijani media reports, its Red Crescent Society sent two trucks with 40 tons of flour.-0-.
