Peace in the Caucasus holds significant strategic value for Iran-Pezeshkian

YEREVAN, August 19. /ARКА/. Peace and stability of the Caucasus is crucial for Iran, and shifting the region's challenges to other countries will make the current circumstances more complex, remarked Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian.
"We endorse the peace negotiations between Armenia and Azerbaijan. Iran desires peace and stability for its neighbors, particularly for Armenia," Pezeshkian noted during his official visit to Armenia.
He emphasized that Iran views integration and friendship as the most effective means to sustain peace and foster development.
"We have consistently upheld Armenia's territorial integrity, and this remains our policy," Pezeshkian affirmed.
The President also expressed Iran's opposition to any form of force being employed in the region.
On August 8 President Donald Trump signed a deal with the leaders of Armenia and Azerbaijan to end decades of fighting, a diplomatic victory that also helps Trump in his push to present himself as a peacemaker on the world stage.
The seven-point declaration, which was signed after the trilateral meeting involving Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan, U.S. President Donald Trump, and Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev on August 8 in Washington, encompasses the initialing of the 'Agreement on Peace and Interstate Relations between Armenia and Azerbaijan', a joint request to the OSCE for the dissolution of the Minsk Group mechanisms, and the unblocking of regional communications based on the principles of territorial integrity, sovereignty, and jurisdiction of the nations, as well as reciprocity.-0-
