YEREVAN, September 10. /ARKA/. The initialing of the peace agreement with Azerbaijan is indeed a significant milestone; peace has been established, stated Armenian Foreign Minister Ararat Mirzoyan.

"We are merely at the outset of this journey. This is a lengthy process that necessitates care and attention, as well as caution regarding every word and document articulated. There exists a long history of animosity and bloodshed between the two nations. Peace is not established among friendly nations; it is forged between countries that have experienced bloodshed and confrontation. Even if we finalize the peace treaty, we cannot assert that all issues will be resolved and peace will be fully established," Mirzoyan remarked.

He noted that currently, the parties are not engaging in hostilities, and the risk of escalation is minimal, approaching zero; the likelihood of violent confrontation is also low. However, numerous challenges persist, including the matter of Armenian prisoners, for which a definitive resolution has yet to be reached. Previously, the Azerbaijani side had mentioned the obligation to release all Armenians kept in Azerbaijan.

"Humanitarian concerns are at the forefront of our priorities: prisoners, detainees, and determining the fate of missing persons. We are actively working to restore communications and anticipate a strengthening of relations with our American counterparts regarding railway matters. We are keen on achieving the lifting of the blockade as swiftly as possible, while upholding the principles of territorial integrity and the inviolability of borders, sovereignty, and jurisdiction," Mirzoyan added, emphasizing that all these considerations are also being evaluated in the context of the agreements made in Washington.

he seven-point declaration signed following the trilateral meeting between Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan, U.S. President Donald Trump, and Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev on August 8 in Washington includes the initialing of the “Agreement on Peace and Interstate Relations between Armenia and Azerbaijan”, the joint application to the OSCE on the dissolution of the OSCE Minsk Group mechanisms, the unblocking of regional communications within the framework of the principles of territorial integrity, sovereignty, and jurisdiction of countries and on the basis of reciprocity, as well as the “Trump Route for International Peace and Prosperity” project.-0-
