Police to step up inspection of citizens because of military parade

Armenian police said today they will step up the check up of citizens and their personal belongings who will gather in Republic Square on September 21 to watch the military parade celebrating the 25th anniversary of Armenia’s independence.

YEREVAN, September 16. /ARKA/. Armenian police said today they will step up the check up of citizens and their personal belongings who will gather in Republic Square on September 21 to watch the military parade celebrating the 25th anniversary of Armenia’s independence.
The Police said the inspection will be carried out by special devices in order to ensure security and public order at the event.
It urged citizens to come to the parade early warning also that citizens with cutting and piecing items, glass bottles and flammable substances will be prohibited from entering the square.
Entrance to Republic Square, which will host the military parade, will be open from 08:00 from Buzand, Arami, Abovyan and Nalbandyan streets and the nearby park through five checkpoints.
In connection with the movement of military hardware the entrance will be closed for citizens from Shahumyan Square, Tigran Mets Avenue and Amiryan Street. -0-
