Poll reveals leaders in elections to Yerevan Council of Elders

The findings of a public opinion poll conducted by the Armenian office of Gallup International Association show that 22.5% of respondents in the capital Yerevan are going to vote for Civil Contract Party’s mayoral candidate Tigran Avinyan in the September 17 elections to the Council of Elders.

YEREVAN, September 15. /ARKA/. The findings of a public opinion poll conducted by the Armenian office of Gallup International Association show that 22.5% of respondents in the capital Yerevan are going to vote for Civil Contract Party’s mayoral candidate Tigran Avinyan in the September 17 elections to the Council of Elders.

Another 14.3% plan to vote for Hayk Marutyan, the candidate of the National Advancement party, who already served as mayor of Yerevan. Also, 7.8% are ready to vote for the candidate from Mother Armenia bloc Andranik Tevanyan.

Some 5.7% of the respondents are going to vote for the candidate of Country for Life party Mane Tandilyan; 6.7% - for the candidate from Public Voice party Artak Galstyan, and 5.2% - for the candidate from Republic party Artak Zeynalyan.

At the same time, 27% of respondents have not decided on the candidate for the position of the Mayor of the Armenian capital.

When asked which party they are going to vote for in the elections, 9.9% found it difficult to answer, and 11.6% refused to answer at all.

A total of 802 respondents took part in the telephone survey conducted from September 12 to 13. Thirteen parties and one bloc are running in the September 17 elections to the Yerevan Council of Elders. -0-
