Armenia and Russia should join their efforts in combating security challenges, president Serzh Sargsyan said today during a meeting in Yerevan with Russian interior minister Vladimir Kolokoltsev.

YEREVAN, October 17. /ARKA/. Armenia and Russia should join their efforts in combating security challenges, president Serzh Sargsyan said today during a meeting in Yerevan with Russian interior minister Vladimir Kolokoltsev.
Sargsyan was quoted by his press office as saying that the growing threat of terrorism, arms smuggling, drug trafficking and other manifestations of crime are serious security challenges that make countries boost cooperation in addressing them.
Stressing that Armenia attaches great importance to security issues and the fight against organized crime, Sargsyan stressed the importance of joint efforts and meetings of experts. Both men were said to note the importance of close cooperation between the law enforcement agencies of the two countries.
Kolokoltsev, in turn, expressed his gratitude for the holding of a regular meeting of top Armenian and Russian police officials in Yerevan. He noted that the political dialogue between Armenia and Russia is at a high level.
Vladimir Kolokoltsev has arrived in Armenia to participate in the 17th meeting of the joint board of the Armenian Police and the ministry of interior of Russia. -0-
