President sacks chief of Armenian military police

The head of Military Police of Armenia's Ministry of Defense Artur Baghdasaryan was relieved of his post at the order of President Armen Sarkissian. Baghdasaryan held this post since May 25, 2017.

YEREVAN, February 19. /ARKA/. The head of Military Police of Armenia's Ministry of Defense Artur Baghdasaryan was relieved of his post at the order of President Armen Sarkissian. Baghdasaryan held this post since May 25, 2017.
By another decree, the president dismissed Aleksan Aleksanyan as head of a department supervising moral and psychological support in the armed forces. He held the post since November 2019.
The dismissals were prompted by the death of 15 Armenian serviceman this year in non-combat conditions. In some incidents, criminal proceedings were instituted on the grounds of driving a person to suicide. The deaths caused a wide public outcry. -0-
