YEREVAN, November 16. /ARKA/. The oppositional Prosperous Armenia Party issued a statement on Monday regarding a meeting with political forces proposed by Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan.
“Today Nikol Pashinyan proposed a meeting in the National Assembly with parliamentary political forces. It is surprising that Nikol Pashinyan recalls the country's political forces only today, after surrendering Artsakh,” the party said in the statement posted on its official Facebook page.
The statement says that the Prosperous Armenia and another parliament-represented opposition party Bright Armenia during this period more than once publicly and officially appealed to Pashinyan with a proposal to organize a meeting with political forces as soon as possible, which could possibly mitigate the catastrophe, reduce the number of victims and reduce territorial losses.
“Nikol Pashinyan refused all our public appeals and the offer to meet him. Today the Prosperous Armenia faction declares that the meeting with Nikol Pashinyan can take place only and exclusively on one agenda: his resignation without upheavals,” the statement says.
Earlier on Monday, during an online press conference, Pashinyan said that the issue of resigning as Prime Minister was not on his agenda.
In recent days, large-scale protests have been held in Yerevan, organized by 17 opposition parties, demanding Pashinyan's resignation. Politicians and ordinary citizens are outraged by his signing with the leaders of Russia and Azerbaijan of a statement on the cessation of hostilities in Artsakh, which provides for significant territorial concessions in favor of Azerbaijan. -0-
