Prosperous Armenia unveils its candidates list for parliamentary elections

Prosperous Armenia, a member party of the ruling coalition, has already unveiled its list of candidates for the parliamentary elections scheduled for May 6.
YEREVAN, March 21. /ARKA/. Prosperous Armenia, a member party of the ruling coalition, has already unveiled its list of candidates for the parliamentary elections scheduled for May 6.
Gagik Tsarukyan, the party leader, is topping the list. Vardan Oskanyan, former foreign minister, Vardan Vardanyan, urban planning minister, Gurgen Arsenyan, former MP and the leader of United Labor Party, Samval Balasanyan, vice-speaker of the parliament, Naira Zohrabyan, MP and chair of the parliamentary committee on European integration, Vahe Hovhannisyan, a member of the party, Harutyun Kushkyan, health minister, Hmayak Hovhannisyan, political analyst, and Mikael Melkonyan, economist, follow Tsarukyan in the list.
Stepan Margaryan, Elinar Vardanyan, Arthur Tamazyan, Aram Safaryan, Khachik Galstyan, Tamara Poghosyan, Vahe Enfiajyan, Ruben Gevorgyan and Tigran Urikhanyan come after them.
Prosperous Armenia, a moderate centrist liberal-leaning party, was established in April 2004.
In 2007, in the first parliamentary elections after its establishment, the party won 15% of votes, which gave it membership in the ruling coalition.
The ruling coalition is made up of three parties – Republican Party of Armenia has 63 seats in National Assembly, Prosperous Armenia has 26 seats and Orinats Yerkir eight seats. There are 131 members in Armenian National Assembly.
Gagik Tsarukyan, chairman of the Prosperous Armenia, is a large entrepreneur, the president of Multi Group, an MP and the head of the National Olympic Committee.
Ministers of health, labor and social affairs, urban planning and sports and the youth are members of Prosperous Armenia. The parliament vice-speaker position belongs to the party as well. -0-
