YEREVAN, May 9. /ARKA/. Russian President Vladimir Putin held a telephone conversation with Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan on Tuesday, the official website of the Russian head of state said.

It said during the conversation, Vladimir Putin congratulated Nikol Pashinyan on his election to the post of Prime Minister of the Republic of Armenia and wished him successes in this responsible state post. Vladimir Putin and Nikol Pashinyan exchanged congratulations in connection with the forthcoming celebration of the Victory Day in WW II.

It said also the sides expressed mutual willingness to further strengthen the traditionally friendly, allied Russian-Armenian relations, and stressed readiness for partnership interaction in multilateral and integration associations, primarily within the framework of the Eurasian Economic Union and the Collective Security Treaty Organization," the kremlin.ru reported.

The Armenian parliament at a special meeting on Tuesday elected the leader of the Armenian opposition Nikol Pashinyan to the post of prime minister by a vote of 59 to 42. -0-
