Regional peace and the TRIPP project will make the South Caucasus a key transit route – Pashinyan
YEREVAN, October 22. /ARKA/. The dialogue between Armenia and Turkey, the peace established between Yerevan and Baku, the TRIPP project, and Georgia's and Iran's friendly relations with the countries of the region will make the South Caucasus the most attractive transit route from north to south and from west to east, Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan stated while speaking at the 5th Silk Road Forum in Tbilisi.
"Our region's transport links complement each other rather than compete, increasing the transit potential of the South Caucasus. As a result of the implementation of Point 3 of the Washington Declaration, a railway linking the Persian Gulf and the Black Sea will also open," Pashinyan said.
According to him, this will significantly increase the transit potential not only of Armenia, but also of Georgia and Azerbaijan.
"All communications in our region will be overloaded and insufficient to handle the increasing cargo flows. The enormous international interest currently focused on the South Caucasus is an asset that Armenia, Georgia, and Azerbaijan must utilize wisely to ensure the development and stability of our region," Pashinyan said.
He stated that today there is a historic opportunity to ensure not only a peaceful, but also a prosperous and developing South Caucasus.
"Peace, prosperity, and development are always accompanied by the transit of commercial cargo, the construction of pipelines and power lines, or vice versa," Pashinyan said, adding that this will create conditions for the prosperity and development of Armenia, Georgia, and Azerbaijan.
"We, the leaders of the three South Caucasus countries, have sufficient will, wisdom, and foresight to do this together with our other neighbors and international partners," Pashinyan said.-0-
