Resolution on recognition of Artsakh submitted to U.S. Congress

YEREVAN, April 25. /ARKA/. U.S. Congressman Adam Schiff submitted a resolution to Congress recognizing the independence of the Republic of Artsakh (Nagorno-Karabakh) and condemning Azerbaijan's continued aggression against Armenia and Artsakh.
The resolution says, in particular: ‘Whereas the right to self-determination is enshrined in several articles of international law to which the United States is a party, including Article I of the UN International Covenant on Civil and Political Rights, which states: "All peoples have the right to self-determination. By virtue of this right they freely determine their political status and freely pursue their economic, social and cultural development," reports the Armenian National Committee of America (ANCA).
Earlier, in an interview with Asbarez News Schiff expressed concern over the possible preparation of a new aggression by Azerbaijan against Armenia and Artsakh. He noted that the humanitarian crisis resulting from the blockade of Artsakh by Azerbaijan is worsening and in order to influence the situation, all congressmen should be involved to put pressure on the U.S. administration. --0---
