YEREVAN, June 7. /ARKA/. Robert Kocharyan, leader of the opposition Armenia bloc and Armenia's second president, stated that the country needs serious changes.

"I voted for a protected, secure, and prosperous Armenia," Kocharyan told reporters after the vote.

Commenting on the video footage of the alleged bribery distributed the day before by the Anti-Corruption Committee, Kocharyan called it "a benefit performance for the Anti-Corruption Committee."

"It seems that every citizen in this country is being wiretapped," he added.

The next parliamentary elections will be held in Armenia on June 7. According to the Central Election Commission, 2,503,974 people are included in the voter registry.

Voting began at 8:00 AM and will end at 8:00 PM. There are 2,005 polling stations in operation. As of 2:00 PM, voter turnout was 33.84%.

Eighteen political forces – two blocs and 16 parties – are participating in the elections: the Reformist Party; the "I am Against All" Democratic Party; the "Strong Armenia" bloc; the Meritocratic Party of Armenia; the Reformist "New Force" Party; the "Wings of Unity" Party; the "Prosperous Armenia" Party; the Pan-Armenian National Democratic Pole Party; the "Kochari - National Revival and Awakening of the Nation" Party; the "Armenian National Congress" Party; the "Republic" Party; the Christian Democratic Party; the "Democratic Union" Party; the "Democracy, Law, Order" (DLO) Party; the "Civil Contract" Party; the "Armenia" bloc of parties; the "For the Republic - Defenders of Democracy" Party; the "Bright Armenia" Party.
