YEREVAN, May 25. /ARKA/. The ruling Republican Party of Armenia (RPA) and Orinats Yerkir will go on with mutual cooperation, spokesman for RPA Edward Sharmazanov said on Thursday following the Party’s Executive Body session.
“Orinats Yerkir has already announced about its readiness to collaborate with RPA and the fact that our cooperation will continue is logical,” Sharmazanov said.
He also noted that Orinats Yerkir will receive ministerial portfolios in the new cabinet, however, their number is not known yet.
“What refers to the decision made by the Prosperous Armenia Party to refuse from joining the new coalition, it is absolutely private matter of this party, and I have nothing to comment,” the Deputy Speaker said.
The incumbent coalition includes the Republican Party of Armenia, Prosperous Armenia and Orinats Yerkir. On Thursday the leader of Prosperous Armenia Gagik Tsarukyan declared that his party has no constitutional opportunity to form a government and implement its programs. Thus, the political force doesn’t regard it rational to take part in forming a new coalition government.
The Republican Party of Armenia was registered in 1991. Its chairman is president Serzh Sargsyan. The party has a prime-minister and seven ministers in the government. The speaker of the National Assembly and one of the deputy speakers are also members of the ruling party.
Orinats Yerkir Party was launched in 1997 by the current Secretary of National Security Council of Armenia Artur Baghdasaryan. It is represented by three ministers in the government. —0—
