YEREVAN, April 12. /ARKA/. Galust Sahakyan, head of the faction of the ruling Republican Party of Armenia in the National Assembly, told journalists today that his party regrets the fact that the opposition in Armenia is not shaped so far.
“It seemed at some time that the opposition appeared, but it still failed to take a final shape and no well-thought-out and coordinated steps have been taken on the opposition side, and this is a regrettable fact, since it had an adverse effect on the country’s political field,” he said.
Sahakyan said that the country authorities heed people’s problems and will react to them soon not in word but in deed.
“People are now anxious to have their social conditions improved, human rights protected properly and migration slowed, and these problems will be included in the government’s new program,” he said. “The brunt of this responsibility will be borne by us, and we will overcome all the difficulties regardless of what the opposition’s status will be.”
The reelected Armenian President Serzh Sargsyan who took office on April 9, accepted the Cabinet’s resignation on the same day in accordance with the Constitution and must appoint a prime minister within ten days after submission of the resignation, taking into account the opinion of the majority in the National Assembly. The Cabinet must be formed within 20 days after the appointment of the premier. ---0----
