Russian Foreign Minister to visit Armenia on May 20-21

YEREVAN, May 19. /ARKA/. Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov will visit Armenia on May 20-21 on a working visit. According to the press service of the Russian Foreign Ministry, his detailed talks with his Armenian counterpart Ararat Mirzoyan are planned, and conversations with Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan and President Vahagn Khachaturyan are expected.
The contacts will follow up on the agreements reached at the highest level on October 8, 2024, as well as following Mirzoyan's visit to Moscow on January 21. The agenda includes a wide range of issues on bilateral cooperation, interaction through Eurasian integration associations, and coordination of positions on international platforms, primarily in the UN.
The heads of the foreign ministries will exchange views on regional security issues, including the prospects for the Armenian-Azerbaijani and Armenian-Turkish normalization processes. It is planned to sign a Plan of Inter-Ministerial Consultations for 2025-2026.
Lavrov will speak at the Russian-Armenian University to teachers and students Russian universities branches and the expert community, and will also meet with compatriots at the Russian House.
According to tradition, flowers will be laid at the Eternal Flame at the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier and a wreath will be laid at the Memorial to the Victims of the Armenian Genocide.
Moscow expects that the visit will contribute to strengthening the political and interdepartmental dialogue between Russia and Armenia, will lead to increased mutual understanding and finding mutually acceptable solutions to issues of interest to each of the parties, the press service of the Russian Foreign Ministry said.
