Russian border guards in Armenia foil smuggling attempt

Russian border guards, who are on service in Armenia, found Monday more than 40 plastic bags with mutton on Arax River’s bank, near Armenia’s border , the press office of Russia’s Federal Security Service’s border department in Armenia reported on Wednesday.

YEREVAN, November 1. /ARKA/. Russian border guards, who are on service in Armenia, found Monday more than 40 plastic bags with mutton on Arax River’s bank, near Armenia’s border , the press office of Russia’s Federal Security Service’s border department in Armenia reported on Wednesday.
The total weight of the mutton exceeds 1,700 kilograms.
They also found a rubber boat and a nylon rope that had been hidden in nearby bushes.

According to the preliminary information, the mutton was planned to be smuggled abroad.
Armenia’s national security officers were invited to the scene.
Now concerned agencies are making whatever is necessary to establish identity of persons involved in the offense. --0----
