Russian foreign minister due in Yerevan in early July

Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov will arrive in Armenia in early July to take part in a regular session of the Council of Foreign Ministers of the Collective Security Treaty Organization (CSTO), slated for July 4, spokeswoman for Russian foreign ministry Maria Zakharova said today.

YEREVAN, June 28. /ARKA/. Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov will arrive in Armenia in early July to take part in a regular session of the Council of Foreign Ministers of the Collective Security Treaty Organization (CSTO), slated for July 4, spokeswoman for Russian foreign ministry Maria Zakharova said today.
According to her, foreign ministers are expected to discuss a set of issues on international and regional security, and the interaction of the CSTO member states in the international arena in the context of the current situation in the world.
She said the ministers will look also into ways to step up combating international terrorism and extremism in the light of developments in the Middle East and Afghanistan.
She added that the ministers will consider also a Collective Security Strategy draft project for the period up to 2025, as well as updated collective instructions to permanent representatives of the CSTO member states in international organizations as well as other issues.
"We hope that the Yerevan meeting of ministers will make an important contribution to the implementation of the agreements reached by the presidents of the CSTO member states on further development of allied cooperation, ‘ Zakharova said. -0-
