YEREVAN, December 13. /ARKA/. Maria Zakharova, Russian foreign ministry spokesperson, at a regular weekly briefing on Thursday, commented on the results of the early parliamentary elections in Armenia.  

“We are tuned to constructive dialogue with the new parliament of Armenia and the government, which will be formed soon, to continue strengthening interaction between our countries also within the Eurasian Economic Union, the Collective Security Treaty Organization and the Commonwealth of Independent States,” Zakharova said. 

She said referring to observer’s conclusion that the elections have been conducted in accordance with the law.  

“No major irregularities able to affect the results of vote were seen,” she said. “The Central Electoral Commission of Armenia is expected to announce the official results of the poll on December 16.”

The snap parliamentary elections were held in Armenia on December 9. Eleven political parties and blocs were racing for seats in the National Assembly. 

Armenian Acting Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan’s My Step political bloc has won a sweeping victory in the elections with 70.43% of votes.

Prosperous Armenia scored 8.27% and Bright Armenia 6.37%. These parties will have their seats in the parliament. 

The Republican Party of Armenia, that ruled the country before the people’s revolution in April, May 2018, failed to obtain even the 5% necessary for ensuring presence in the National Assembly – the party received only 4.7%. Dashnaktsutiun, too, with its 3.89%, failed to obtain any seat in the parliament. -0---
