About situation in Hin Tagher-Khtsaberd

On December 15, video footage of the capture of 100 Armenian servicemen, filmed by the Azerbaijani side, began to appear in social networks and the media.

On December 16, the Artsakh defense ministry announced that the previous evening, under unclear circumstances, it lost contact with the Defense Army's several combat posts deployed near the villages of Hin Tagher and Khtsaberd. It was noted that the search continued throughout the night and in the morning.

On the same day, Artsakh Ombudsman Artak Beglaryan said that, according to the preliminary data collected by him, a subdivision of about 60 servicemen had gone missing in the direction of the Khtsaberd village of the Hadrut region. According to him, it is highly likely that they are the ones who were captured on the video published by the Azerbaijani side.

Later, Artsakh President Arayik Harutyunyan said that in the direction of Khtsaberd, several dozen Armenian servicemen were captured by the Azerbaijani side, and currently the ministry of defense is clarifying all the circumstances.

The Armenian defense ministry said that the video footage published on the Internet in which a group of Armenian servicemen is withdrawn from the encirclement from the territory of the villages of Hin Tagher and Khtsaberd of the Hadrut region is true. It was reported that the actions were carried out thanks to the active steps of the Russian peacekeepers with the direct participation of the commander of the contingent, Lieutenant General Rustam Muradov.

The Artsakh Ministry of Defense stated that the fate of 73 people is still unknown.

From September 27 to November 9, the Azerbaijani Armed Forces, with the participation of Turkey and foreign mercenaries and terrorists recruited by it, carried out aggression against Artsakh at the frontline and in the rear using rocket and artillery weapons, heavy armored vehicles, military aircraft and prohibited types of weapons (cluster bombs, phosphorus weapons). The strikes were delivered also at civil and military targets on the territory of Armenia.

On November 9, the leaders of the Russia, Azerbaijan and Armenia signed a statement on the cessation of all hostilities in Artsakh. According to the document, the parties stop at their positions. The city of Shushi, Agdam, Kelbajar and Lachin regions pass over to Azerbaijan, with the exception of a 5-kilometer corridor connecting Karabakh with Armenia. A Russian peacekeeping contingent will be deployed along the contact line in Karabakh and along the Lachin corridor. Internally displaced persons and refugees are returning to Karabakh and adjacent regions, prisoners of war, hostages and other detained persons and bodies of the dead are exchanged. -0-
