Samvel Karapetyan: Armenian authorities have turned the harsh repressive apparatus into the most used tool

Billionaire and philanthropist, president of the Tashir Group Samvel Karapetyan, arrested earlier this week for two months for public calls to seize power, accused the Armenian authorities of introducing a repressive apparatus and splitting the country into "blacks" and "whites".
"What have the current authorities managed to do? They have managed to split the country into "blacks" and "whites". Heroes, generals, scientists - the entire elite have been classified as "blacks". Some have been presented as bribe-takers, others - as worthless to society. Many entrepreneurs have ended up among the "blacks", hundreds of illegal criminal cases have been brought against many. The harsh repressive apparatus has become the most used tool, undermining the foundations of the country's internal stability," says a statement from the entrepreneur.
According to Karapetyan, those who were concerned about the country, created jobs and were useful became political prisoners and experienced the "charm" of prison cells.
"Various respected people along with their families were persecuted and were forced to leave or not return to their homeland. I know many of them personally, and the list of those who found themselves in a similar situation can be listed for a long time," he noted.
As the businessman pointed out, the Armenian authorities "managed to set everyone against everyone."
"Political forces began to fight each other, without realizing where the real evil was hiding. But time speaks its word and does its job: the "blacks" began to become white, and the "whites", who now constitute a minority of the people, I am sure, will very soon remain just a small group in front of everyone's eyes. Although even this hurts me, because it was with divisions and splits that our most difficult period began. Soon we will put an end to the split together.
