A team of lawyers representing Russia-based billionaire Samvel Karapetyan, who is head of the Tashir Group, is filing and will continue to file lawsuits with the aim of restoring his business reputation and violated rights established by the legislation on defamatory public statements and publications.

YEREVAN, July 4. /ARKA/. A team of lawyers representing Russia-based billionaire Samvel Karapetyan, who is head of the Tashir Group, is filing and will continue to file lawsuits with the aim of restoring his business reputation and violated rights established by the legislation on defamatory public statements and publications.

“This is an initiative by the team of lawyers, the aim of which is to eliminate insults and slander in political and public discourse, which will benefit everyone, and, first and foremost, society,” says a statement on the Samvel Karapetyan Defense Council Facebook page.

The Datalex.am judicial information portal has posted Karapetyan's lawsuits against Arsen Torosyan and Hayk Konjoryan, MPs from the ruling Civil Contract party, demanding a public apology for the slander and insults and compensation of 9 million drams.

Samvel Karapetyan, owner of JSC Electric Networks of Armenia (ENA), has been under arrest in Armenia since June 19 on charges of publicly calling for the seizure of power. This happened after his meeting with Catholicos of All Armenians Garegin II and statements of support for the Armenian Apostolic Church amid attacks from the authorities.-0-
