YEREVAN, September 9. /ARKA/. Armenian president Serzh Sargsyan has accepted the resignation of the government, Sargsyan’s press office reported. It said the decision was made on the basis of a resignation application tendered by outgoing prime minister Hovik Abrahamyan on September 8.

Under a decree of the president, all the members of the government will continue to perform their duties until the formation of a new government.

Late on Thursday the ruling Republican Party of Armenia (HHK) nominated Karen Karapetyan, a former Yerevan mayor, for the post of Armenia’s prime minister. -0-
