YEREVAN, December 22. /ARKA/. Armenia's mass media has undergone revolutionary changes over the years of independence, president Serzh Sargsyan said today during a New Year reception organized for media representatives.
"Over the past two and a half decades, we have been able to form a dynamic society, public structures and unique free journalism. I have no doubt that an independent and impartial journalist should be the all-seeing eye of our society on the path to building a mature and democratic system," he said.
According to the president, the past year was full of internal and external political, economic and cultural events that were in the focus of the press.
"An important national event of 2017 were the elections to the National Assembly on April 2. In retrospect, we can confidently say that these elections were held in a constructive and united atmosphere. The elections were positively evaluated by observers from public and international organizations," Sargsyan said. -0-
