Sargsyan: Armenia to continue constructive activity in the frames of OSCE Minsk group

Armenia will continue constructive activity in the frames of OSCE Minsk Group in the context of peaceful solution of Nagorno-Karabakh conflict, said President of Armenia Serzh Sargsyan in his congratulation letter on the occasion of establishment of OSCE Minsk Group , press-service of President’s Office informed ARKA News Agency.

YEREVAN, March 26. /ARKA/. Armenia will continue constructive activity in the frames of OSCE Minsk Group in the context of peaceful solution of Nagorno-Karabakh conflict, said President of Armenia Serzh Sargsyan in his congratulation letter on the occasion of establishment of OSCE Minsk Group , press-service of President’s Office informed ARKA News Agency.

“Being highly interested in the solution of Karabakh conflict, Armenia will continue positive and constructive activity in the frames of OSCE Minsk Group in the context of peaceful solution of Nagorno-Karabakh conflict for the benefit of stability and security of our region and our nations”, said Sargsyan.

Sargsyan expressed his gratitude for the consistent steps of co-chair-countries of OSCE Minsk Group in the regulation of Nagorno-Karabakh conflict undertaken in the last twenty years.

He said that despite the fact that the main goal of the Minsk Group, particularly solution of the conflict, is not solved yet, but it is impossible to evaluate the work which was done by co-chairman of the Minsk Group in the last 20 years in the direction of the relations of the parties, development of the main principles, facilitate of the tension and maintenance of peace.

Karabakh conflict started in 1988 after announcement of coming out of Nagorno- Karabakh fr om Azerbaijan. On December 10, 1991 referendum took place in Nagorno- Karabakh wh ere 99.89% agreed to become independent from Azerbaijan. On May 12, 1994 military actions were terminated in the zone. About 25-30 thousand people died from each side and about 1 million had to leave their houses.

Cease-fire continues till now. From 1992 till present negotiations are conducted on peaceful regulation of the conflict in the frames of Minsk Group of OSCE, co-chairmen of which are USA, Russia and France.—0--
