Serzh Sargsyan, Armenian president, finds it reasonable to consider room for establishing an Armenian-Russian military industry complex in Gyumri to solve military technical modernization problems and to enhance effectiveness of servicing the 102nd Russian military base deployed in the city.

YEREVAN, March 14. /ARKA/. Serzh Sargsyan, Armenian president, finds it reasonable to consider room for establishing an Armenian-Russian military industry complex in Gyumri to solve military technical modernization problems and to enhance effectiveness of servicing the 102nd Russian military base deployed in the city.
In an interview with Russia’s Izvestia, he said that it is necessary to gauge the multi-profile scale of the complex to enable it to handle not only modernization of this military base, but also to become a platform for establishing military industry ties with Russia and Armenia’s neighbors with access to Russia’s traditional armament outlets.
Sargsyan said that creation of new jobs in Gyumri would become a factor for improving social and economic things in the city where the Russian base is deployed.
In his words, Armenia is consistently strengthening its defense also as part of cooperation with its strategic ally Russia.
“We have created a united group alignment and have formed a common air defense system,” he said in his interview. --0---
