YEREVAN, December 17. /ARKA/. Armenian president Serzh Sargsyan presented his election platform draft, “Towards Secure Armenia”, at the congress of the ruling Republican Party of Armenia (RPA) Saturday.

According to the program, Armenia has entered into the maturity stage and no problems could be justified by young age and vices inherited from the past.

“Immediate, competent and clear solutions need to be found to the existing problems,” reads the program.

It is mentioned in the platform that Armenia is located in a region entangled in a web of consistent hatred and warmongering rhetoric, a region full of threats and hazards.

“We have no right to delay and fall behind the global developments for securing peace and stability”, says the program.

According to the program, Armenia needs to have a sound and forward-looking objective to meet the present challenges and move forward, to ensure dignified and prosperous life for every citizen of the Republic of Armenia.

The president promises to ensure life in a much better Armenia for each citizen of the country by 2018.

The statement also points out that over the 22 years of independence Armenia has made a great irreversible progress.

Sargsyan was elected president on February 19, 2008.

The Republican Party of Armenia (RPA) was officially registered in 1991. From 1990 to 1997 the party was led by Ashot Navasardyan. In 1997-2007, Andranik Margaryan (Armenian premier in 2000-2007) became the leader of the party.

RPA has been led by the current president Serzh Sargsyan since 2007.

RPA holds the majority of seats (69 out of 131) in the current parliament. Under a coalition agreement, “Orinats Yerkir” party joined the RPA, which gave the ruling coalition an absolute majority in the parliament. “Orinats Yerkir” has also agreed to support Sargsyan’s nomination in the upcoming presidential elections of February 18, 2013. –0--
