Shahramanyan says Nagorno-Karabakh Republic not dissolved

YEREVAN, October 20. /ARKA/. Nagorno-Karabakh Republic (NKR) has not been dissolved as no document can dissolve a state created by the people, president Samvel Shahramanyan said on Friday in a comment on the decree he had signed in late September to dissolve the NKR until January 1, 2024.

"I will give an interview to the Public Television of Armenia soon and will touch upon all the issues that concern our people," Shahramanyan said to a group of Nagorno-Karabakh refugees protesting outside the Nagorno-Karabakh representation office in Yerevan.

He also touched upon the ceasefire agreement signed on September 20. According to him, all the people gathered in front of the representation office, understand perfectly well what would have happened if the ceasefire document had not been signed.

"The enemy stood on the approaches to capital Stepanakert. We managed to save the lives of our people, our sons, women and children," Shahramanyan said.

He said he has a lot to say, but it is fraught with serious threats to both Armenia and the future fate of Nagorno-Karabakh.

"We are all in a very difficult, if not extremely difficult situation. However, what is happening here makes the situation even worse. We have no enemies here. We have only one enemy and everyone knows it. I am responsible for all my decisions. We have no right to jeopardize the fate of our Motherland, the Republic of Armenia. This is our Motherland too," he said.

Shahramanyan said he is ready to receive and listen to everyone. A little later, he suggested organizing a meeting next week. The citizens gathered in front of the representation office were not satisfied with that.

The president asked to select 20-30 people for a separate conversation. However, this proposal was not accepted either.

After the large-scale aggression of the Azerbaijani armed forces on September 19, Nagorno-Karabakh authorities accepted the proposal of the command of the Russian peacekeeping contingent for a ceasefire.

Fearing persecutions Nagorno-Karabakh residents left their homes and moved to Armenia.

Nagorno-Karabakh president signed a decree to dissolve all state institutions and organizations under their subordination before January 1, 2024. By that time the Nagorno-Karabakh Republic is to cease to exist. -0-
